Biography
Lio Mag was born in Lyon, France, in 1972, where a rich cultural heritage shaped his early artistic vision. Before moving to New York City at 27, he worked as a sommelier under the legendary Paul Bocuse, an experience that sharpened his sensory awareness and continued to influence his intuitive approach to painting. Inspired by Fauvism and Impressionism, Lio developed a style defined by vivid color, expressive movement, and emotional depth.

New York Years His move to New York marked a turning point, immersing him in a vibrant creative environment that propelled his professional career. Lio has owned galleries in New York City and Woodstock and collaborated with renowned photographer Peter Beard, whose raw visual storytelling left a lasting imprint on his work. His paintings have been commissioned by notable collectors, including actress Tuesday Weld and Kay Leroy, owner of Tavern on the Green. Present Practice Now based in Florida, Lio continues to explore themes of love, freedom, and transformation. His newest body of work is featured at DeBilzan Galleries and now debuts in Santa Fe, inviting viewers into a vivid world where memory, intuition, and imagination converge.
